Karl Road Baptist Church

Karl Road Baptist Church is seeking a salaried part-time Worship and Music Director. The position requires an experienced, gifted leader who enjoys involving the congregation in worship. It includes preparing, coordinating, and directing the musical and multimedia elements of the church's corporate worship.

Note: All candidates must be able to articulate clearly a faith relationship with Jesus Christ and to subscribe personally to the church's Statement of Faith and Mission & Vision Statement.

Education and Experience Required:

• A bachelor degree with music emphasis
• A history of leading worship
  • Background in preparing and directing choirs, ensembles (vocal and instrumental), and individuals in both the classical and contemporary religious repertoires
• Experience with church worship arts in theory, history, and practice

Skill Sets Expected:

• Able to create an environment that relates to the weekly message topic and involves the congregation in God-centered worship
• Works effectively as part of a team and is skilled in organizational planning, budgeting, management, and interpersonal communication
• Confident in leading worship vocally and instrumentally (strongly prefer piano/keyboard and/or guitar skills)

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and lead worship inspirationally on Sunday mornings and encourage worship throughout the week.
• Work with the pastors and Worship Planning Team to develop and incorporate music and other multi-sensory elements of worship into the weekly worship service and the overall ministry of the church.
• Conduct weekly rehearsals of the Chancel Choir, Worship Team, and Praise Band in preparation for Sunday worship and seasonal special observances and events.
• Expand membership in the Chancel Choir, Worship Team, and Praise Band and foster individual growth.
• Coordinate congregational and guest vocal/instrumental soloists/ensembles.
• Oversee maintenance and upkeep of musical instruments and equipment.
• Cooperatively prepare the annual worship budget for approval and manage the music portion.
• Maintain and improve the scope and quality of the music library.
• Pursue continuing education and professional development, as funding permits.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Senior Pastor and the Worship Planning Team.
