The Karl Road Baptist Church is seeking a part-time, salaried Children’s Director. The position requires an experienced, gifted leader who enjoys and will provide an excellent ministry to and with children and their families from infancy through fifth grade. It includes preparing, coordinating and directing all aspects of our ministry to the congregation’s children.  

Note: All candidates must be able to articulate clearly a faith relationship with Jesus Christ and to subscribe personally to the church’s Statement of Faith and Mission & Vision Statement.  He or she will also be expected to become a member of our church and meet the requirements for KRBC's program staff found in our Constitution.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Extensive personal experience in an educational environment involving children.
  • Paid or volunteer ministry experience in a church or Christian organization valued.
  • A bachelor degree in early childhood and/or elementary education preferred.

  • Encourage and enlist parents to be fully engaged in the spiritual formation of their own children.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with parents and children from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Skilled in organizational planning, budgeting, management, interpersonal communication, and volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Support other church ministries – especially our outreach ministries to community children (for which he/she will not have direct responsibility) - and help connect those children and their families to Sunday and Wednesday church ministries.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with the Youth and Children’s Ministry Team Leader and Team members to provide overall leadership to all internal children’s ministries.
  • Recruit, train, and encourage volunteer leaders.
  • Provide oversight for all of the Sunday morning children’s classes and programs which includes facilitating decisions to adopt, teach, order, and review all curriculum and maintain the equipment and décor of each room.
  • Build and develop the education programs offered on Wednesday evenings which includes helping to recruit and train leaders for the program (i.e., GEMS and Christian Service Brigade).
  • Provide activities and/or baptism preparation classes as needed that will help children discover, make publicly known, and then continue to develop a personal relationship with Jesus as Savior and Lord.
  • Provide leadership for, and be fully involved in, an annual one week Vacation Bible School type of ministry during the summer.
  • Assure appropriate background checks are conducted for all volunteers in children’s ministry and safety protocols are followed.
  • Provide leadership for, and be fully involved in, other special, annual activities such as a children’s Christmas program, an Easter egg hunt, and/or a fall festival.
  • Create and keep updated a children’s ministry handbook and regularly review and update manuals, schedules, rosters and training materials.
  • Keep information regarding the children’s ministry updated on the church website.
  • Help to develop an annual ministry plan for the children’s portion of the Youth and Children’s Ministry Team, manage its budget, and regularly evaluate the overall effectiveness of the children’s ministry along with the Ministry Team Leader.
